A few months ago, while surfing through Linkedin, I was able to discover a community called Dev Korea. It was a community of foreigners trying to find their footing in the Korean tech industry. Intrigued, I decided wait for an opportunity to join their next meetup.
A few days later, I found out that their ever first meetup was happening on July 31 in Seoul.
Eager to attend, I signed up immediately.

On the day of the meetup, which was held in Google's Seoul Startup Campus, I was surprised to see the large number of attendees. To be honest, I was expecting a small gathering, but it turned out to be a well-organized event with over 100 participants.
The meetup was structured around Supabase's Launch Week 15, featuring a series of talks and discussions. The event kicked off with a welcome speech by the organizers, followed by a welcome video by Supabase's CEO.
From here on out, all the photos are taken by the Dev Korea team. I was too busy listening to the talks and eating pizza to take photos.
After the introduction, we had a series of talks from two fantastic speakers who shared with us their Supabase experience.
- Supercharging Kakao Login on Supabase — by Miryang (Ria)
- From scratch ideas to MVP with Supabase — by Rigo

It was really cool to see how Supabase was being used by different projects and teams in the Korean tech scene. I once tried using Supabase, but never got to fully explore its capabilities. Maybe I should give it a try again in the near future.

After the talks, we had a networking session where I got to meet some amazing people. I had the chance to chat with a foreign student studying computer science. We exchanged our experiences about college life in Korea and shared tips on navigating the tech industry. I also had the chance to talk with a Kyrgyzstan developer who was working as a Fullstack developer in Korea. Honestly I was surprised to see a Kyrgyzstan developer in Korea, as I had never met one before.
If you are also interested in joining a community of tech enthusiasts in Korea, I highly recommend checking out Dev Korea. They have regular meetups and events that provide great opportunities for learning and networking.
